The future is now: Storage
June 15, 2018
Bloomberg New Energy Finance predict that “The global energy storage market will double six times between 2016 and 2030, rising to a total of 125 gigawatts/305 gigawatt-hours.” And, as found by the EU, “The European battery market is projected to increase by a factor of 4 to 10 by 2025, creating a market worth €250 billion/year.”
In a recent speech, the EU’s Vice President for Energy Union and TBB.2017 keynote speaker, Maroš Šefčovič, outlined Europe’s ambitions to build up its battery industry along the entire value chain – and quickly. In fact, in October 2017, Šefčovič launched a flagship initiative on batteries, the so-called “European Battery Alliance”.
At the EU Industry Day event held in Brussels (22-23 February 2018), Šefčovič announced the implementation of the European Battery Alliance and €200 million to support battery development and innovation from 2018 to 2020.
Acknowledging our experience in the field, which includes supporting more than 20 battery and storage related innovations, InnoEnergy was appointed to lead this initiative with a mission to create a pan-European and cross-sectoral battery ecosystem, which will make Europe a fast follower in battery technology. InnoEnergy is now working with more than 120 stakeholders of the industrial and research battery ecosystem from across Europe and beyond – covering the entire battery value chain from design to production, manufacturing and installation.
Speaking of our contribution to the EBA, CEO of InnoEnergy, Diego Pavia, just this month stated at European Sustainable Energy Week: “We won’t win a Nobel Prize for Innovation, because Innovation is about gathering people to create the right ecosystem.”
And The Business Booster makes no exception – as the world’s leading sustainable energy innovation forum, it brings together Europe’s most innovative start-ups with key players right along the Energy value chain, and beyond.
With the storage revolution quickly changing our energy landscape, the time is now to come together to share knowledge on this new era and adapt to our new roles in the today’s energy ecosystem.
To support you on this transition, The Business Booster will provide a number of revolutionary storage solutions, such as NAWA technologies. Their unique cells, modules and systems help increase uninterrupted power supply reliability in data centres, making the short-term production from renewables more predictive. In addition, the technology lowers the cost of short distance transportation, by providing e-buses, e-ferries and trams, as well as for any future connected mobile usage.
But it doesn’t stop there. Empowering everybody to produce their own fuel at home from the likes of CO2, H2O and electricity, Gensoric introduces a world first residential power-to-liquid and CO2 usage system; first of its kind start-up, Ecovat, provides a thermal, seasonal storage system that enables heat storage of up to 90°C with minimal energy and exergy loss; and, the electric vehicle battery charger + E-mobility management system from Smart Charge box will provide you with a scalable technology, suitable for any type of common charging station and grid.
What could be seen as a relatively quiet and slow revolution in the past, is now quickly transforming society. With InnoEnergy and our supported storage solutions at the heart of this revolution, The Business Booster provides you with a unique chance to see, first hand, commercially viable solutions that are changing the world now.
