The future is now
April 11, 2018
Since 2014, the world has seen a 25% boost in sustainable energy investment. By 2040, it is expected that 74% of the 8.6 trillion euros invested in power generation will go to renewables.
Meanwhile, investment in oil and gas has fallen sharply. Within Europe, we have committed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40 percent by 2030. Our goals to transform the energy system are already paying off – for one whole day, renewables made up 57% of power in Sweden, 85% in Germany and 100% in Denmark. While in Portugal, May 2016 saw the country run on renewables alone for four consecutive days and in the UK, over 50% of electricity is powered by clean energy.
It could be argued that this shift in political agendas has been largely driven by a shift in society.
Since 2006, when many of us were left shocked and shaken after watching Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, the world has seen a revolutionary change in societal mind set.
A recent survey, conducted by Danish company Ørsted, makes proof of this point by asking 26,000 people across 13 countries “How important do you think it is to create a world fully powered by renewable energy (by this we mean energy is produced in a way where there is limited or no impact on the climate)?”
With 82 percent of respondents deeming this goal important, it is safe to say the world wants more clean energy, now.
The Business Booster is the catalyst which will make this happen. Providing a window through which we can see this new reality, you will discover products that have put the scientific theory of before, into real life workable and commercially viable solutions that are changing the world now.
In particular, The Business Booster will focus in on four key areas which have revolutionised the way in which we can now use clean energy: smart cities, storage, transport and wind.
