Bio
Araceli Fernandez has more than 20 years of experience in energy technology and innovation. She is currently Head of the Technology Innovation Unit within the Energy Technology Policy Division at the International Energy Agency (IEA), where she oversees research, analytical and modelling activities on energy technologies for the transport, industry and buildings sectors. She also leads the IEA’s work on tracking technology readiness levels across the energy sector and analysing industrial competitiveness.
Previously, Araceli led modelling and technology analysis for the industrial sector within the same division. Before joining the IEA in 2012, she held a range of positions in the oil and gas industry, including leadership roles in process optimisation, detailed engineering, process licensing and emissions monitoring for refinery and petrochemical projects.
Araceli holds an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) and an MSc in Process Engineering from Cranfield University (United Kingdom).
